My name is Rachel.  I was born on my great-grandpa’s birthday in 1980.  I am married to the man I fell in love with in junior high.  Together we’ve made three other people, Beatrice, Leona, and Harriet.  We live with those people in a house near downtown Austin, Texas.

This blog is a story about manic depression, obesity, motherhood, God, marriage, and fountain pens.

The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.  Exodus 33:11

    Hi Rachel,

We talked a bit through IG a few weeks ago (I’m @sparkandecho) and I wanted to tell you that our conversation inspired me to make (and keep) a writing goal for myself. We talked the day before my birthday so I decided that as a birthday gift to myself, I would write a page a day no matter what. So far I’ve managed to do that, and it really has made a difference. Thank you.

I love your blog. Keep writing. We seem to have a few things in common, and I’ll keep reading.

Leslie, I am so glad that conversation encouraged you and that you have chosen to give yourself such a wonderful gift! At first we think it takes too much, but writing just gives and gives and gives.
